Alvin Watchman

Alvin Craig Watchman, beloved husband, father, and brother, was born on April 11, 1960, in Ganado, Arizona, and passed away on September 16, 2026. Alvin, a humble soul with a loving heart, resided in Provo, Utah, where he was a pillar in his community and a beacon of faith to all who knew him. He was the talented owner of an auto body business, where he showcased his supportive nature by helping others find solutions to their car woes. Alvin was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as Bishop for 10 years for North Park 5th Ward, now Franklin 2nd Ward. He was constantly inviting others to come into Christ and loved serving both his church and the Native American community.

Alvin’s love for life was infectious. He was an ardent BYU football fan and found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as savoring pork chops, mashed potatoes, and gravy with corn on the cob, and relishing his favorite chocolate cake on his birthdays. His love for singing was evident as he performed with his drum group “Buffalo Nation,” teaching and inviting others to learn the drum, and performing at cultural events like powwows and graduations. Alvin’s love for the gospel, his wife Edna, his children Craig and Jamie, and his siblings were the cornerstones of his life. His favorite scripture, Moroni 10:4, is a testament to his unwavering faith and love for God.

Alvin leaves behind a rich legacy reflected in the lives of his wife Edna, his children Craig and Jamie, his siblings Colleen, Robert, Nadine, Denny Jr., and Jonathan Benally. He is preceded in death by his parents, Denny Sr. and Gladys Watchman, his brother-in-law, Victor Davis, and his niece, Shania Yazzie.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Franklin 2nd Ward Chapel, 2530 West 200 South, Provo, Utah. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will follow at the Provo City Cemetery.
