Annella Goulding Ash Obituary (1938

Annella Goulding Ash passed away November 12, 2022 from a stroke, heart and circulatory complications at age 84. Annella was born June 12, 1938 in Henrieville, Utah to German and Thora (Willis) Goulding. Annella was the second oldest child with three brothers, LaRel, Dan, and Hal. She had such a very tender heart and love for each of her brothers. The family moved from Henrieville to Chula Vista, California for a short time when she was a young girl, but eventually they settled permanently in Orem, Utah, where she graduated from Lincoln High School. After high school, Annella married Wayne R. Ash in the Salt Lake City Temple, and they had six children, Sharlene, Ron, Kevin, Gina, Nathan, and Jennifer. They later divorced, but Annella’s love and constant support to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will always be remembered and cherished. Annella was a full-time homemaker, and was gifted in baking breads, rolls, cakes, and delicious dinners on a budget to feed a large family. She was a loving and devoted mother to her children, but at times when needed, she would yell that she was going to get the wooden spoon. This has now become more of an endearment and fond memory to the family. Our mother was all bark and no bite. She launched her 20+ year career at JC Penny’s, where she attracted a loyal following of customers and co-workers, who were drawn to her because of her cheerful demeanor and personal service. It is not enough to say that Annella loved the Jazz basketball team. There is a reason that “fan” is short for fanatics. Mom was all that and if there was a game being played you knew not to bother her unless you loved them as much as she did. She was thrilled the day when she was able to meet coach Sloan and get her picture taken with Karl Malone and enjoyed telling and showing it to everyone! Go Jazz!! She truly suffered the last two decades of her life with many surgeries, illness, and eventually was homebound much of the time. She enjoyed visits from her family, but her daily companions were Miss Kitty and then later Fluffy, her two beloved cats she inherited from granddaughter, Leilani. She gave them tender loving care all the days of their life. Annella is preceded in death by her father, German Goulding; mother, Thora (Willis) Goulding; brother, Dan Goulding; furry companions, Miss Kitty and Fluffy. She is survived by her six children, Sharlene (Bill) McDearman, Ron (Peggy) Ash, Kevin (Lisa) Ash, Gina (Matt) Cameron, Nathan (Heather) Ash, and Jennifer (Jeff) Watts. 17 grandchildren, Eliza Roketenetz, Michael (Jaclynn) Ash, Ben (Michelle) Thomas, Jason Sperry, Josh (Ashley) Thomas, Nicole (Ben) Callahan, Natalie (Craig) Herman, Leilani Manako, Rachel (Sam) Taylor, Brandon Ash, Skylar (Tommy) Demson, Amber (Weston) Palmer, McKay Ash, Jacob Green, Emma JoAnne Ash, Ellie (Hunter) McKell, and Connor Ash. 21 great-grandchildren, Ariel Mauricio, Ashlyn Callahan, Ella Roketenetz, Afton Callahan, Mele’ane Madison Manako, Tayvee Ash, Lana Manako, Gracie Thomas, Addie Callahan, Cru Ash, Liberty Herman, Ozzy Ash, Anela Manako, Boone Callahan, Camden Cooper, Aidynn Taylor, Noelle Herman, Bridger Thomas, Karsynn Taylor, Halcyon Herman, and Theo Palmer. Our loving, caring, and wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be greatly missed.
