Beth Smith, age 78, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, in Provo, Utah from ALS.

Born in Provo, Utah to Fay L. and Elsie Barton Smith, she was the youngest of five siblings.

Beth was known for her strength, her sense of humor, and thoughtfulness. Through quiet support and generous acts, she touched the lives of many family and friends.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Beth had a strong testimony and deep love for the Savior. Her faith guided her life and was especially evident as she battled courageously through the difficulties of ALS.

Beth was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and colleague, known for her kindness, quiet strength, and sincere generosity which was especially evident in 1987 when she caringly donated a kidney to her older brother Keith.

She attended Dixie College and built a fulfilling career with several respected companies, including Golden Apple, Maxwell Products, and Tosh Medical Center.

Beth was also an avid quilter whose creativity and craftsmanship touched the lives of many. She produced and shared countless beautiful quilts, each one a reflection of her care and love. These treasured pieces will be cherished for years to come.

Beth loved country music, especially the Oak Ridge Boys. If you couldn’t find her, there was a good chance she was at one of their concerts somewhere.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Keith, her sisters Hazel (Keith) Gardner, Nancy Smith, Lois (Cleon) Sheriff, and Jean (John) Casey, and many nephews and nieces.

The family expresses their gratitude for the love and care of the Legacy Assisted Living, Hospice, University of Utah, and the many close friends who lovingly cared for her over the past year.

Beth will be dearly missed and affectionately remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
