Cherlyn (Cheri) Joyce Butler Boutelle-White Obituary (1944

Cherlyn "Cheri" Joyce Butler Boutelle-White, 80, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024 surrounded by her children, grandchildren, loved ones and friends. Cheri was born September 9, 1944 in Los Angeles, California to Reid and Arvilla Butler. She was the fourth of 6 children and lived her early years in the L.A. area. As a child, Cheri loved spending time with her mother and family and went on long trips together spending her summers at her uncle's ranch in Arizona. She loved music and learned to play the piano and accordion. She had a natural eye for beauty and good taste and would spend hours in the kitchen learning to cook with her mother. She was talented in art and loved theater and musicals. She was an attentive listener and always had time for you. As a young adult, she married Carl Calvert with whom they shared 4 beautiful children - Stacey, Jonathan, Tiffany and Christopher. Although things didn't work out between them, she longed to have an eternal partner. She was soon swept off her feet by a young, ambitious man, Brock Boutelle and their marriage was solemnized in the St George Temple, where they lived a short while before making their home in Provo, Utah. Cheri, with Brock would have 3 more beautiful children - Brock Jr., Cameron and Holly. Tragedy struck her life in the early hours of a late winter morning, when she received the terrible news that her dear husband, Brock, had fallen to his death in a work-related accident. Now as a single mother, Cheri struggled and did her best to raise 7 children. She returned to college to finish her Bachelor’s degree in food science at Brigham Young University, which she loved with an enduring passion. She cherished her Mormon heritage and dreamed of being a pioneer. She had an abiding testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and would demonstrate that through many acts of caring service to others. She served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She especially had a real soft spot for the less fortunate, elderly and small children. She cared for and comforted many seniors at end-of-life stage and held their hand endearingly as they passed to the other side. She loved animals and had many pets. She stayed close with her siblings, nieces and nephews who could always count on her hospitality. She had many friends that adored her and would visit her often to enjoy her warm spirit. Above all titles she prized the one of mother the most. She loved and cared deeply for her children, singing songs, playing activities and teaching them her deep love for her Savior. Later in life, although they didn't share any children, she would marry again to Dell White, whom she loved and admired for his dedication to her and her children. She was widowed once again when Dell passed in 2004. She would dedicate the rest of her life to the care of others, her children, grandchildren and their families. Cheri is survived by her daughter Stacey, Springville; son Jonathan, Orem; daughter Tiffany, Springville; son Christopher (Teresa), Provo; son Cameron, Florida; and daughter Holly (Ben) Holdaway, Provo. Cheri is preceded in death by her late husband Dell White and even later husband, Brock Boutelle. Also preceded by her son Brock Jr, siblings Ronald, Janice, their spouses, Ann and Jim, and her brother Richard, her parents and many other family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 1, 2024 at the Lakeview 8th Ward Chapel, 155 West 1600 South, Orem, Utah.
