Clarice Stubbs

–

Lehi, Utah

Clarice ‘Criss’ Morgan Stubbs passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025 surrounded by family and friends. She was affectionately known as ‘Criss’ to all family and friends. Criss was born on November 11, 1935 in Provo, Utah to Lester Rees Morgan and Norma Humphrey Morgan. In the fall of 1953, Criss married Ronald W. Stubbs. They had 4 children together. They later divorced.

Criss worked at Dixon Junior High School as a lunch lady where she is rumored to have made the best rolls in town. She loved her time, friendships and fond memories made at Dixon. For the remainder of Criss’s career she worked as a Medical Assistant to Dr. Merrill Oaks at the Provo Eye Clinic. Her grandchildren would often visit her and always get a special treat from the famous treasure box. In the mid 90’s Criss moved to American Fork where she built lasting friendships in her close-knit community. She was a member of a pinochle group whose members were all childhood friends and played pinochle together for over 60 years.

Criss had a deep love for western dancing and could often be found out on the dance floor several times a week, from line dancing to two-stepping all around the valley. Her passion for dancing was matched by her love of country music and attending concerts and plays with her family and friends—moments she truly cherished.

When she wasn’t out “cuttin’ the rug” Criss spent time volunteering at a local hospital where she lovingly held and comforted newborns when their families couldn’t be there. If there was a baby in need of a cuddle, Criss was always the first to offer her arms. Visitors to her home were always greeted with a stash of Diet Cokes, Snickers, and Peanut Butter Ritz Crackers—just a small taste of her warm hospitality.

Criss also had a special gift for crocheting. Many friends and family members are lucky to own one of her handcrafted treasures—whether it be a crocheted clothes hanger, dishcloth, Christmas stocking, or blanket—each was made with love. When she wasn’t crocheting or playing card games, she was usually working on a puzzle, and if you stopped by, you were sure to be invited to help put in a few pieces.

Criss is survived by her 3 children, Sherie (Jason) Nielsen, Randy (Susie) Stubbs and Lisa (Ryan) Dorius; her sister, Shirley (Jay) Wilson; 10 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Lester Monnell Morgan, and son, Rick Morgan Stubbs.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2025 at Eastlawn Memorial Hills, 4800 North 650 East, Provo, Utah. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.bergmortuary.com.
