Dennis Kay Heaston
July 16, 1947 – July 1, 2026

Dennis Kay Heaston was born on July 16, 1947, in Sahara Village, Utah to Mildred Madsen and Leonard Heaston. He grew up in Kaysville, UT alongside his four brothers: David, Gary, Greg, and Pat. Here he developed a strong work ethic, a love of learning, and a deep devotion to faith that would characterize his entire life.

As a young man, Dennis faithfully served a 2½-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Franco-Belgian Mission from August 1966 to February 1969. His affinity for the French language and culture remained with him throughout his life. After returning home, he attended Brigham Young University, where he studied Chemistry and met the love of his life, Anne Bishop. They were married on September 8, 1970, in the Los Angeles Temple, beginning a devoted partnership that would bless their family for decades.

Dennis continued his education at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Following his medical training, a fellowship in Houston, and a teaching position at Duke University, he and Anne settled in Provo, Utah, where he practiced Radiology for 43 years. Dennis was known not only for his skill and professionalism but also for his ability to relate to his patients and their families.

Together, Dennis and Anne built a wonderful family and were blessed with four children: Amie (Craig) Anderson, Dan (Mandy) Heaston, Derek (Cammie) Heaston, and Angie (Ryan) Lemon. Their family continued to grow with the addition of 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him and Anne immense joy. He especially loved hearing about the educational adventures and missionary service of his grandchildren.

Dennis found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He was an exceptional gardener with a remarkable green thumb and could often be found outdoors tending his yard and enjoying God’s creations. He absolutely loved hiking and enjoyed outdoor adventures. His pursuit of knowledge continued throughout his life as he: learned new languages, traveled, studied, and read continually, striving for excellence in diverse fields of study. He and Anne enjoyed serving as medical missionaries for the Provo, Utah mission from February 2021 until July 2024.

Above all, Dennis was a hardworking and loyal father, grandfather, great-grandfather, physician, and disciple of Jesus Christ. He lived a life of service and quiet dedication, serving for many years in Young Men’s leadership, Boy Scouts (Silver Beaver), Bishop, and Emergency Preparedness. His tireless example of tenacity, enthusiastic service, ardent faith, and lifelong learning will continue to bless the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered until the day his family is reunited with him again.

A funeral service will not be held. Dennis lived his life expressing generosity and service to all those with whom he came in contact. In lieu of flowers, plants, or gifts, please express your love in a gesture of generosity or service. This will honor him and his legacy.
With love,
The Heaston Family
