Diane Hilgendorff Furr (92) peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on June 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 2, 1933, in Richfield, Utah, to John and Leora Hilgendorff.
The youngest of three children, Diane cherished time with her family, especially going to the movies with her mother. Her parents fostered in her a deep love of music, teaching her to play both the violin and piano. She became accomplished in both, later passing that love on to her children. As a teenager, Diane formed a quartet, performing violin and vocals at weddings and other special events. After high school, she continued her musical and academic education at Brigham Young University.
Diane met her eternal companion, Karl Furr, in high school. They dated throughout those years and were married on December 1, 1951.
Diane and Karl shared a deep and enduring bond, especially through their love of music. They were founding members of the Utah Valley Symphony, performing hundreds of concerts in the Provo Tabernacle over a span of 50 years. On their 70th anniversary, surrounded by their children and grandchildren, Diane and Karl were sealed in the Provo City Center Temple, which was once the Tabernacle where they had performed for so many years.
Diane and Karl built a beautiful life filled with family, travel, and shared experiences. Whether raising their four children—Douglas, Ken, Keith, and Kaylene—exploring the world from Europe to St. George, gathering with extended family, writing her autobiography, or simply enjoying a quiet dinner out, Diane was happiest with Karl by her side.
She is survived by her children: Douglas Furr, Ken (Nancy) Furr, Keith (Julene) Furr, and Kaylene Ollerton; along with 26 grandchildren and 73 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. Diane is preceded in death by her husband, Karl Furr, and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2025 at the City Center 4th Ward Chapel, 310 North 100 East, Orem, Utah. The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will follow at the Orem City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended online at www.bergmortuary.com.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shown love and support during this time, especially to iCare Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care.
