Orem, Utah

Donald Douglas Jensen of Orem, Utah passed away on May 29, 2026, from Acute Myeloid Leukemia at the age of 83.

Don was born on January 2, 1943, in Provo, UT to James Howard and Sarah Jane Riley Jensen on an unseasonably warm day. When the weather was especially cold, Don liked to say, “it was warmer on the day that I was born than it is today”.

Don graduated from Provo High in 1961. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the England North British mission 1962-1964 where he was ½ of Jensen and Jensen, Ltd. Don had a deep adoration and reverence for England. Don earned his Associate degree in History from the College of Eastern Utah which he lovingly referred to as “the Harvard of the West” and where he was voted “Best Dressed”. He earned a BA in History from Brigham Young University.

Don began his career working at Utah Valley Technical College for 2 years then moved to San Francisco to be a property accountant for Rodeway Inn. Shortly after moving back to Utah, he began working for Heckett Engineering where he worked for more than 20 years before retiring. Don also owned and managed many rental properties over the years.

Don loved his family and was a devoted caretaker for his widowed mother until her passing in 2004. He also willingly ministered to his siblings throughout the years. Don took pride in his heritage and family history. He spent countless hours organizing and documenting information and indexing records on FamilySearch. He was even recognized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for his dedicated hours indexing records and was invited to a dinner of appreciation. He was also working on a comprehensive record of the descendants of his notable ancestor Laban Morrill and boasted that he had identified over 1000 descendants. Through his diligent work detailing his family pedigree, he discovered some living relatives in Manchester, England. Don was able to connect and build a lasting relationship with these relatives visiting them several times.

Don was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully his entire life. At the time of his passing, Don had read the Book Mormon three times this year and was in Alma for his fourth reading. He continued to read daily in the hospital despite his pain and discomfort.

Don is survived by his sister Nedra Naomi Nielsen of Provo, UT; his brother Lloyd Thomas Jensen of Orem, UT; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and Bubbles. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother William Howard Jensen; his sister Peggy Joyce Kole; and his brother-in-law Kenneth E. Nielsen.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Geneva Heights 5th Ward Chapel 546 North 500 West in Orem, Utah. Visitation will be held prior to the services from 9:30-10:30 AM. Condolences may be extended online at www.bergmortuary.com.
