Frank Pellett Barnard

–

Elk Ridge, Utah

Frank Pellett Barnard, born March 8, 1947, passed peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on May 27, 2026.

Frank was born to William “Bill” Grover Barnard Jr. and Ruth Mona Pellett Barnard. Coming from a family known for innovation and entrepreneurship, Frank carried that same creative and inventive spirit throughout his life. He was also a long-time resident of Olmsted Township, Ohio, graduating from Olmsted Falls High School and Case Western Reserve with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Eventually returning to Olmsted Township where he spent many years building his life and raising his family.

On July 13, 1973, Frank married Frances Mary Primiano in the Logan, Utah temple. Together they built a loving family and raised 6 children.

Frank played an important role in the development and design at Vitamix, including contributions connected to the blender and the Flurry Machine and was also recognized as a key contributor to the invention and design of the iconic McFlurry spoon — small pieces of ingenuity that became part of homes and restaurants around the world. In which his work quietly touched millions of people in everyday life.

While his path eventually led in different directions from Vitamix, the family business, he remained a gifted thinker and used his creative mind tinkering with projects.

Frank was a long-time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served a mission in the California East Mission. He had a testimony of Jesus Christ as his Savior. He loved the Lord. Those who knew him remember his intelligence, creativity, and the unique way he saw the world.

People will remember Frank for his warm smile, thoughtful nature, and creative spirit. He was a deep thinker who enjoyed spending time with family, writing, drawing and creating things with his hands. Whether working on a new idea, or sharing quiet moments with those he loved, he brought curiosity, creativity and individuality to all he did.

He leaves behind his wife, Frances; his children; Adam (Diana), Matthew (Jennifer), Peter (Julianna), Sarah (Brandon), Nathan, and Jonathan, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and loved ones who will carry forward memories of him in different ways and through different chapters of life.

The family expresses gratitude to those who provided care, compassion, and support during his final days.

A memorial and celebration of life will be held at 11:00am Saturday, May 30th at LDS church house located at 450 N. Elk Ridge Drive, Elk Ridge, Utah. Condolences may be extended at www.bergmortuary.com.

Until we meet again.
