Marvin Grant Draper, 87, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025. Born and raised in Provo, Utah, Grant spent his entire life rooted in the community he loved and served so quietly and faithfully.
Grant was a journeyman plumber for 50 years, known for his unmatched work ethic, steady hands, and willingness to help anyone who needed him. If something broke, he showed up—tools in hand, calm grin on his face, ready to fix it.
A man of few words but endless heart, Grant was quiet, kind, hardworking, and gentle. His front porch became a legendary neighborhood gathering place, where he spent countless hours visiting with family, neighbors, and friends. And if you talked long enough, you could always count on hearing his signature line: “Is that right?”
Grant had a deep love of craftsmanship and the outdoors. He rebuilt vintage hot rods that won multiple awards, spent years hunting and practicing archery, and poured his soul into one of his greatest accomplishments—building the family cabin from the ground up. That cabin became his paradise, a place where he spent long, peaceful days surrounded by the mountains, his projects, and the people he loved most. Some of his happiest hours were spent there with family and friends, working, laughing, and simply being together.
More than anything, Grant was proud of the people he loved. He often said he had “the best family in the entire world,” and he meant it.
Grant was preceded in death by his father, Fred Draper; his mother, Virginia Shorthill; his son Kelly Draper; and his brothers Owen Draper and Bruce Draper.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Evelyn Draper, whom he married on August 7, 1957, and with whom he was later sealed in the Manti Temple; his children, Michael (Suzie) Draper, and their four children—Deni (Nick) Page, Erin (Marshall) Mann, Scott (Laura) Draper, and Sami (Blake) Cook—along with 11 great-grandchildren; and Jason (Jennifer) Draper. He is also survived by Kelly’s widow, Kim Ludwig; his siblings Fred (Debbie) Draper and Barbara Dye; and his sister-in-law Carolyn Draper. His presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who loved him.
Grant’s life was a testament to quiet service, steady love, and devotion to family. His hands built and repaired more than homes and cars—they built a legacy of kindness that lives on in everyone lucky enough to have known him.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2025 at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery, 1997 South 400 East, Springville, Utah.
