It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our beloved Greg’s untimely, and unexpected passing on January 1, 2024 after suffering a sudden heart attack in his home. His departure leaves a void that words can't capture. Our father was a pillar of strength, a source of endless love, and truly a titan of a man. Our memories of Greg are treasures we will hold onto, providing comfort and solace during this difficult time. Greg's laughter, his guidance, and his unconditional love have shaped us into the people we are today.
Greg passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, love, and unwavering commitment to those he held dear.
Greg found profound joy in the role of being a dad and a new grandpa, taking immense pride in being the patriarch of his family. His children, Cole, Taggert, and Ysabel were the heartbeat of his existence. The recent arrival of his first grandchild, Cole Watts II, brought an additional and exciting layer of fulfillment to his life.
A loving daughter-in-law, Allison, was an integral part of his family, enriching their bonds with shared laughter, love, and support. Greg reveled in the experiences and milestones of his whole family, finding joy in the growth and accomplishments of each member.
Greg's commitment to family extended beyond blood ties. Cheree Darbro Halona, the love of his life, and her boys Tristan, and Jake became cherished members of his close-knit circle. Together Greg and Cheree created a tapestry of love, blending their lives and forming a bond that stood the test of time.
Family for Greg was not just a word but the very essence that fueled his spirit. His dedication to nurturing and maintaining these connections reflected the values he held dear. He embraced the responsibilities and joys of family life with an open heart, leaving an everlasting mark on those of us blessed to share in his love.
Greg had an infectious love of life and was never happier than when he was sharing his passions with those he loved. For Greg a perfect day would start with breakfast out with family and friends, a long meandering scooter ride with Cheree, some fishing, and kayaking with his whole crew, and to end the day around his kitchen table playing cards, telling jokes and stories late into night with the whole family. For Greg, being active and having fun with his family was everything. He always had a plan, and the plan always involved good food, good music, and something fun to do. Greg was tireless, and those of us blessed to be included in his adventures are going to sorely miss our beloved ringleader.
Greg worked in construction and the building industry his entire life. Paying his dues, and working in all aspects of the job. From laborer, to running his own crews, running his own companies, and most recently the director of operations for a large-scale modular manufacturing company. Greg loved what he did, and he truly loved those he worked with. He took great pride in not only the lasting structures he built, but in the friendships he created and nurtured throughout his career. When driving almost anywhere in the Utah Valley with Greg, he could point to a building or house and tell you he built it, worked on it, or had a great story about those who did.
Greg was born in Provo on June 16, 1974, to Jack and Barbara Watts, the fifth of six children. Greg attended Provo schools including Grandview Elementary School, Dixon Middle School, and graduated from Provo High School in 1992. Greg lived in Utah Valley his entire life and loved being a true local. He loved being able to bump into old friends almost wherever he went and was always happy to catch up and reminisce.
Greg was preceded in death by his father and mother Jack and Barbara Watts and an older sister Lisa Ann. He is survived by his children Cole (Allison), Taggert, and Ysabel, his grandson Cole II, the love of his life Cheree Darbro Halona and his siblings Shauna, Todd, Dale, and Brett.
In celebrating Greg's life, we remember a man who found profound meaning in the relationships he cultivated. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, a testament to the enduring power of love, laughter, and shared moments. As we bid farewell to Greg, let us cherish the memories and continue to uphold the values that he held so dear. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal love that he gave so freely during his time on this earth.
As we navigate the waves of grief, we find strength in the outpouring of support from friends, and family. Your thoughts and prayers mean the world to us. We lean on each other for strength and look to the memories we shared with him to guide us through this challenging journey.
Thank you for your kindness during this profoundly difficult time. Let us celebrate the beautiful life our beloved Greg lived, and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. Greg, you are so loved, you were such a special person to all of us blessed to be in your life, your memory lives with us forever.
