Harold Mulvany

–

Provo, Utah

Harold William Mulvany, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on May 27, 2025 at the age of 99. He was born on February 23, 1926 in Kinmundy, Illinois to Arvie Bryan Mulvany and Elsie Bell Odell.

Harold's life journey included living through the financial devastation of the Great Depression. His family lost their farm during this time and this event, along with the ensuing poverty, had a great impact on his life. The experience instilled in him a strong desire to get a good university education and to work hard to provide a home and financial security for his family.

Harold was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served in the 102nd Infantry Division during World War II. He would often recall being present as a soldier at the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg, Germany after the war had ended.

Harold met his wife, Eva Maria von le Fort, shortly after the end of World War II. They were married on July 9, 1947. After joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints they were sealed in the Logan Temple on August 29, 1974.

Harold earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Houston and was able to travel extensively around the world to many places including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Europe for various job assignments.

Dad leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity and commitment to family and faith. He was truly a gentle giant, patient father, devoted husband, empathetic listener, and lifelong enthusiastic learner. He remained always a steady foundation for his family. Dad also loved sharing some of the most interesting stories about his life.

Dad loved to study his scriptures and lived the words of 2nd
Nephi 31:20 in his everyday life:
"Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men."

Harold is preceded in death by his parents; wife Eva; his older sisters Juanita, Marjorie, and Helen; his son Michael Mulvany, sons-in-law Jimmy Peyton and Louis Johnson. He is survived by his daughter Teresa Peyton; son Bill (Cyndi) Mulvany; and daughter Eva (George) Bills as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A heartfelt thanks goes to the many caretakers at Sodalis in Deer Park, Texas for their care of our dad and to James for watching over him all the way to the end.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2025 at Eastlawn Memorial Hills, 4800 North 650 East, Provo, Utah. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.bergmortuary.com.
