Jay Elmer

Jay Owen Elmer, 64, of Orem, Utah, passed away unexpectedly on May 25, 2026. He was born on August 4, 1961, in Provo, Utah, to Arthur Elmer and Jocyle Despain Elmer.

Jay was raised in Orem, where he later met his sweetheart, Lisa Byers, who would become his wife. They were married on May 8, 1981, and shared a full and happy life together. At the time of his passing, they had just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.

Shortly after their marriage, Jay joined the United States Army, beginning a life of adventure and service alongside Lisa. His military career took them to New Jersey, Kentucky, Korea, Washington, Germany, and back to Kentucky, where he retired as a Sergeant in 1991. During their travels, they welcomed three children and built a life rich in experiences and memories.

Jay had a deep love for cars, trucks, and motorcycles—especially his dream Harley-Davidson—and could often be found tinkering in the yard or garage. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, particularly camping and making lasting memories together.

Jay is preceded in death by both of his parents and a sister, Sherrie Sleath. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Elmer, his three children, Stacie Elmer, Ellis (Katrina) Elmer, Anthony "Tony" (Dana) Elmer and six grandchildren, Hailey, Aiden, Madalyn, Adelaide, Charity and Arriah.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Berg Mortuary of Orem, 500 North State Street, Orem, Utah. The family will receive friends from 10-10:50 a.m. prior to services. Interment will follow in the Timpanogos Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be expressed online at www.bergmortuary.com.
