Joyce LaVern King Hatfield Obituary (1930

Joyce LaVern King Hatfield, 88, died at her home on Friday, March 22, 2019, surrounded by family and loved ones. Joyce was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 19, 1930, the daughter of Leonal and Inez Argyle King. Joyce was raised in Provo and attended Provo High School. She married Clyde Ray (Tyke) Hatfield on June 9, 1948 in Provo, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized on April 17, 1956 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Joyce and Tyke spent 59 blessed years together and raised their family in Provo. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including Primary and Young Womens, was a devoted visiting teacher, and did much family history work. Joyce was employed as Provo Fire Department’s Chief Secretary for 21 years. She enjoyed her time there and the many friendships gained. After retiring, Joyce and Tyke spent time traveling in their motor home, visiting all 50 states and spending winters in St. George with dear friends and family. Joyce was known for her loving devotion to her family, her wonderful cooking, her quick wit, and love and care for all. She was known by many more than just her family as “Grandma Joyce”. One of her most honored family traditions was cooking Sunday dinner and gathering her family each week. She also enjoyed watching BYU football and Jazz basketball games, sewing, organizing, reading, and cherished time spent playing cards and games with loyal friends. She is survived by her three daughters, Linda (LaVar) Allen, Provo; Barbara (Stan) Littlefield, Palmyra; and Susan Willard, Mapleton; eight grandchildren: Todd Allen, Provo; Brad Adams, Mapleton; Karen (Leslie) Kester, Lehi; Sharon (Steve) Greene, Lehi; Molly (John) Banks, Lake Shore; Kevin (Elisabeth) Allen, Hanford, CA; Jamie (Jacob) Golding, Spanish Fork; and Austin Willard, Mapleton; and thirteen great-grandchildren: Kelton, Trevis, Madisyn, Cadric, Abrielle, Rylan, Gauge, Ava, Wyatt, Cooper, Ella, Lissa, and Rylan. Her husband, parents, and brother Marvin preceded her in death. Honoring Joyce’s wishes, graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery, 400 East 420 South, Spanish Fork, Utah.
