Kathleen (Kathy) Joyce Roper Johnson
Born in Provo, Utah on Sunday, September 26, 1971
Passed away in Provo, Utah on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the age of 53.
Kathy is survived by her beloved children: sons Devin (Jamie) and Dallin, and daughter Katelin. She was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren: William, LaRue, Hallie, and Autumn. She is also survived by her two cherished dogs, Rookie and Ohana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vard and Iona, with whom she shared a deep and special connection. Her family finds comfort knowing she is reunited with them now.
Kathy graduated from Orem High School in 1989 and went on to earn her nursing degree from Utah Valley State College. She dedicated 25 years to her career as a nurse, working in various specialties including the mother-baby unit, ER, home health and hospice, surgical care, and ICU. Though she excelled in many areas, her true passion was emergency nursing — she was an ER nurse through and through, and she loved her work deeply.
Beyond her career, Kathy had a profound love for nature, shopping, traveling, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and children. Her family was her entire world. She enjoyed camping, especially at Lyman Lake, walking her dogs, and spending time with her brothers and sisters. A proud patriot, she loved her country, and she had a lifelong love for animals, particularly her dogs.
Kathy showed great strength despite difficulties in her life and became an extraordinary mother. Her family finds solace in the thought that she is now reunited with her own mother.
Funeral services for Kathleen will take place on Friday, May 16, 2025 at the Grandview 18th Ward, 1260 West 1150 North, Provo, UT 84604. All are welcome.
