Our loving father, Kenneth Winder Porter Jr., passed away from health complications at the age of 65 on December 5, 2023 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Born July 4, 1958 in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the seventh child of Kenneth and Anne (Immerthal) Porter, and was raised with his three sisters and five brothers in Salt Lake City and Provo.
Ken loved the gospel of Jesus Christ, served a mission to South Carolina, and continued throughout life as an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in Family Finance. His two daughters were sources of immense pride, and he adored each of his small grandchildren. In his chosen profession, Ken served as a life coach, counseling clients from over 80 countries around the globe. His passions included reading on personal development and gospel topics. He spread his enthusiasm for preparedness and for patriotism, delighted every year to celebrate his birthday and our great nation’s birthday simultaneously. The Provo area was dear to him, and his mood was noted to fluctuate with the outcomes of BYU athletic competitions. Go Cougars!
Our hearts ache as we miss him, but we are thankful to know that our dad has returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Parents. He was preceded in death by parents Ken and Anne Porter, and sister Diane (Ed, dec). He is survived by his two daughters, Melissa (Bryan) Fisher and Ashley (Brad) Henderson, three grandchildren, and siblings David (Sue, dec), Jan, Jean (Greg), John (Lisa), Ben (Kerry), Michael, and Jim (Cheryl).
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 11, 2023 at the Stadium Avenue Chapel, 650 East Stadium Avenue, Provo, Utah. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.bergmortuary.com.
