Kristal Murphy Obituary (1968

Kristal Murphy, 56, Daughter of Elliot Henry Murphy and Gleneen Allan Genther was born on Mother Earth on February 10,1968 in Provo, Utah and peacefully passed away on November 14, 2024 in Springville, Utah surrounded by the love of her parents, siblings and beloved nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Kristal was a beacon of strength to all she came in contact with. When you knew her, you knew where she stood. Kristal was very proud of being ½ Dine’ (Navajo) and ½ Scottish and English descent. She knew who she was as a daughter of God and was proud and found strength in her ancestry and knew many were there for her. Kristal had the opportunity to travel with her mother to Scotland and England, which was one of the highlights of her life where she left a piece of her heart there. Kristal loved and cherished the relationships she formed throughout her life. She had a strong love for learning and enjoyed her time continuing her education at Utah Valley University where she enjoyed taking extracurricular classes while focusing on Criminal Justice. Throughout Kristal’s life she chose employment in the roles of assisting others who were mentally or physically disabled, those who suffered with addictions and taught them a better way and uplifted them when they could not uplift themselves. She was a great teacher in her profession. She taught the importance of where you come from and how important culture is. This was very important to her. Kristal was a true warrior for those who needed her to be. She considered herself an independent person and encouraged others to be brave and strong. She was a true warrior especially for others. Although Kristal did not have any children, she had nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly as if they were her own. She took the time to love and appreciate them. They felt her love. Kristal was one who followed the native teaching of walking in her beauty. Not only was she beautiful, but she also chose beauty. She found joy in the beautiful talents she was gifted that stemmed from her parents. She was taught silversmithing by her father and knitting, crocheting, embroidery and handiwork from her mother. She also loved to do stained glass. These crafts were very therapeutic for her and she came by them honestly. You could see her beautiful hands that were busy and her fingers were always covered with beautiful silver rings that were either given to her or she made herself. One year she entered a sweater in the Utah State Fair and she received the highest reward one could receive. Because she was a professional in her craft and so fast and flawless, her sister gave her the native name of Na’ashje’ii Asdzaa (Spider woman). Those who received a hat, scarf, blanket, sweater, or anything else from Kristal knew she truly loved them by the gift of love that you received from her. Her handiwork was always made from the goodness of her heart. Kristal was a lover of music and attended many concerts throughout her life. She also played the flute, violin (which her father crafted) and dabbled on the piano in her younger years. Her greatest memory was taking part in a competition in Canada where the orchestra received a beautiful trophy. Kristal loved animals, especially her two dogs whose names were Baker and Bandit (Dido). She loved them dearly for they were her children and she grieved deeply when she had to say goodbye and let them walk over the rainbow bridge. She never recovered from that. We are pretty sure that they were there for her as she received her own beautiful day going home. Kristal was an endowed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life she had faith in Jesus Christ and found peace in knowing that Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of all things. She understood eternity and how important it is in the plan of progression and truly endured to the end. She also understood the native way of graduating from this camp and going to another. Kristal is loved dearly by so many and although we miss her, we treasure the memories of her life and hold them in our hearts. Til then, h’agoo’nee’. Kristal was preceded in death by her father, Elliot Henry Murphy and her brother Kurt Anthony Murphy. Survivors are her mother, Gleneen Allan Genther, stepfather, Alan Arod Genther; siblings: Janell Murphy, Dallin Elliot Murphy, Chiska Murphy, Jarom Scott Murphy, Chris Biddulph, Bryce Andrew Genther, Karlee Genther; and beloved step brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at the LDS Kolob Stake Center, 1230 South 500 East, Springville, Utah. The family will receive friends at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Tuesday, November 19, from 6-8:00 p.m. and at the church Wednesday, from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
