Kristie Phillips Williams Obituary (1974

Kristie Williams was born on August 25th, 1974, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Daughter to Vickie and Stephen Phillips, she was the first daughter of eight other siblings that would become known as the Phillips Family. On March 3rd, 2024, at the age of 49, she unexpectedly passed away in her sleep early in the morning in Provo, Utah. Kristie moved a lot in her childhood as there was always something that came up that made her family move around; but Provo, Utah was always considered her home. She attended Fair Junior High (now Provo Peaks Elementary), Dixon Middle School, and finally Provo High School at the age of 14 where she would later graduate from and attend college. It was at this second Provo High School, located across from Brigham Young University on University Avenue built in the 1950s, that she would meet the love of her life Michael Edward Williams. Following high school graduation, Michael and Kristie would date each other for a whole year before she sent her boyfriend on his mission to Managua, Nicaragua. Two years later from the time he left, that June, Michael proposed to her, and they got married on August 10th, 1996. They then started a new life and family together. Kristie studied Child Development. She attended Utah Valley University, but all she ever wanted to do was to be married and have a family by becoming a mother. So, when Michael returned from his mission, she decided to only focus on family and embrace her God given role more fully as a helpmeet and loyal wife to her husband. Michael and Kristie would go on to have Brandon, Connor, and Dylan and their joy was immense as a result. Kristie struggled with getting pregnant as it was hard to have kids, and unlike those around her who got married and had kids right from the get-go, she had to wait four long years before her oldest, Brandon would be born in the year 2000. Their other two children, coincidently, would each follow five years later from the previous sibling. It helped her appreciate her role as a mother so much more because of her patience. Kristie was able to become the mother she always wanted to be, and her joy was full because of it. She regretted never finishing college but would also never change it for the world. She made sure to urge her children to go to college and pursue academia as in her mind, it would be better to have a degree (knowledge) and be taken seriously, rather than being ridiculed and judged. Kristie was what we would call a realist. She was not optimistic nor pessimistic, but realistic. This meant that she was blunt and wouldn’t sugarcoat anything. This may have upset some people, but it was who she was. She couldn’t handle stupid people. Kristie loved the outdoors and loved to visit new places, but being a stay-at-home mom was her biggest pride and joy. She made sure to work a part-time job here and there when extra things needed to be taken care of or when things got tight and was exceptionally good at keeping the finances in check like budgeting and planning. Finances were never a problem. She dedicated her life to her family and took her role as a helper very seriously especially in the Relief Society by always helping those in need when the need arose like bringing over food when a new baby arrived or bringing her support with other timely events. Kristie will never forget those who touched and blessed her life in more ways than numbered, and she will always be appreciative of her family and would hope that her siblings would take care and keep on trucking. Embracing who they are as Phillips’ and to remember their family’s lineage. She was Michael’s everything, and Michael was her everything. Kristie’s family is grateful for the support and help received from first responders everywhere and the many prayers, best wishes, and mourning of those here today, past, and future. Kristie is survived by her husband Michael Edward Williams, her three sons: Brandon, Connor, and Dylan Williams, and her seven remaining siblings Jeff, Terry, Sean, Tracy, Rachel, Windy, and Richard; along with their parents Vickie and Stephen. And all all-other family members on Michael’s side of the family, and church ward/friends alike. The family wants to thank all those who made this possible and for the many donations. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Provo 6th Ward Chapel, 835 South 500 West, Provo, Utah. The family will receive friends at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Friday, March 8, from 6-8:00 p.m. and at the church Saturday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
