Lois Anne Barney

–

Springville, Utah

Lois Anne Olearain Barney passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones April 8, 2026, at the age of 90. Lois Anne was born on December 10, 1935, in Eureka, Utah, to Ada Utahna Hales Peay, and Serafin Olearain. She spent her early years in Eureka and went back later and enjoyed her time and friendships there.

Lois Anne later moved north and raised her seven children in the Provo area. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed her association and service there; she was the PTA president when her children were young. She also served in the Provo Women’s Chamber of Commerce as a business owner/operator.

More than anything, Lois Anne loved her family, spending time with them and sharing adventures. She was able to travel to many parts of the world, was a delightful travel companion and had an incredible sense of wonder and awe. Her youthful spirit of curiosity was infectious and she was well read on a number of subjects. She enjoyed camping and family gatherings and never missed the opportunity to spend time with them.

Lois Anne had wonderful spouses and partners - Merritt Cornelius Floyd, Warren Scott Russell, Benjamin Lamar Barney and Donald Ray Trippy. She married Ben in 1983 and moved to Las Vegas. She worked at Quality Mechanical where she made lifelong friends. In the last years of her life, she enjoyed the love and companionship of Don Trippy, whom we lost in December, 2024. Following Don’s passing, she moved to Springville where her son Robert and his wife took loving care of her so she could enjoy the company of her family. Lois was sharp and vibrant right to the end, lived a full life, loving and loved.

She is preceded in death by both parents, spouses, sister Verona, brothers Seraph and Andy, granddaughter Rachel, grandson Michael Sean, great grandson Kyrrus, daughters-in law Laura, Sawnya and Lynn and granddaughter-in-law Becky.

She is survived by two sisters, Phyllis and Elain and one brother, Johnny Olearain, all seven children: Sue Anne Meneskie, Springville; Robert Charles Floyd (Connie), Springville; Michael Wayne Floyd (Claudia), West Jordan, Utah; John Paul Russell and Joseph William Russell both of Evanston, Wyoming; Julie Marie Russell Saint Ignatius, Montana; and Diane Christina Russell Davidson (Thomas B), Salt Lake City, Utah; 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren who love and will miss her greatly.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1460 East 900 South, Springville, Utah. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Hills in Provo, Utah.
