Marcine Louise Carter Price Obituary (1929

Our beloved mother, grandmother, mentor, and friend passed away peacefully in her home on September 14, 2024 having met her goal of living long enough to celebrate her 95th birthday. Born on August 25, 1929 to Justin Gilbert Carter and Lilian Violet Adderley, Marcine's early years were spent growing up in Park City, Utah. At the tender age of 9, her father passed away in a mining accident in the Oquirrh Mountains and the family relocated to Salt Lake City. While there, her mother met and married Martin Knuteson a man whom Marcine came to love and respect as her father. She spoke often of his kindness, humor and integrity. While growing up during the depression, Marcine learned the value of hard work and gained a number of skills that she would use throughout her life. She was a masterful seamstress, baker, and yarn worker. She was an avid reader and relished learning new things. These qualities and skills would prove to serve her well. After graduation from Granite High School in May 1947 she worked at Utah Woolen Mills, a job she reminisced about fondly. She met and married her sweetheart companion Elden G. Price on October 4, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with 9 children: Terry, Bonnie, Janet, Ruth, Nancy, Von, Val, Scott, and Paul. Over the years, the family continued to grow and Marcine embraced her role as the Matriarch to a posterity of 192 amazingly diverse personalities with several new babies arriving in 2025. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Marcine held a number of callings. She was happiest though, when she was serving with the Activity Day girls and passing on the skills that she had mastered as a girl. She enjoyed sending each one home with a crocheted treasure and the ability to make more independently. Marcine also delighted in the opportunity to serve as a missionary in 4 different missions with her Eternal Companion, Elden. After Elden's passing in 2011, Marcine learned to navigate a life different than she had expected but she did so beautifully, creating countless tender memories with her family. These memories include the smell of warm love rolls in the kitchen, doing more puzzles than we can remember, the simple joy of a pedicure, and splurging on soft serve vanilla ice cream. Marcine was always up for an adventure and recognized each family gathering as a blessing. We are grateful for these memories of a life that was loved. While many of us remain here and will miss her greatly, Marcine was preceded in death by her sweetheart Elden, her sons Terry and Val, granddaughter KasiJo, and many others dear to her heart. We know there was a joyous reunion in heaven to welcome her home. We invite friends and family to join us as we celebrate a life beautifully lived. Tuesday, September 24, 2024 Cottonwood LDS Chapel 1750 East Spring Lane Holladay, Utah Viewing will be held 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. Marcine will be laid to rest next to her sweetheart Elden at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah.
