**In Loving Memory of Abuelita María Joaquina Gordillo**
With nearly 101 years of life lived with grace and tenacity, Abuelita María Joaquina Gordillo has peacefully passed away in her home, leaving behind a legacy woven with love, resilience, and countless cherished memories. She was a woman of extraordinary spirit, known not only for her warmth and generous heart but also for her deep passion for enjoying life’s adventures, dressing up for Halloween and trick-or-treating at 100 years old, walks by the lake, going to the farmer’s market on Saturdays, and birthday parties.
María Joaquina was devoted to her late husband, Luis Gordillo, with whom she shared a life rich in love, laughter and servitude to our Heavenly Father, serving three missions and in countless church callings. Their home was a haven of joy, filled with the aroma of food and the vibrant traditions they upheld together. Even after Luis passed away five years ago, the bond they shared remained a guiding light in her life.
As a mother, María Joaquina faced the profound sorrow of losing one of sons, Hector, yet she carried this grief with incredible strength and grace. Her surviving son, Luis Felipe, along with her seven adoring grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, were the treasures of her heart. She lavished them with love, belly laughs, wisdom, and the comforting embrace of her home, where countless jokes were said and memories were made.
Abuelita María Joaquina was a kind and nurturing soul, but she possessed a spirited zest and sassiness that made her truly unforgettable. Her determination was unyielding, and her voice was always heard, echoing with both gentleness and strength. In her presence everyone felt special, enveloped by the love she so generously gave.
She will be dearly missed, but her memory will forever bloom in the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy will live on with the countless stories that will be told for years to come. May she rest in peace, lovingly reunited with her beloved husband and child, their spirits forever intertwined.
