Our dear mother and grandmother Mary Olive Rowe Castleberry passed away on October 21, 2011 at the age of 92.
She was born February 7, 1919 in Yoakum, Texas to Leslie C. and Gertrude Morris Rowe. Mary moved to Utah with her family in 1923 after the death of her mother. Her education was completed in the Provo city schools.
She married Don Castleberry on April 21, 1937 and they were married for 30 years until his death in 1967. After Don's passing Mary worked at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in the Dietary Department for 12 years before retiring. After her retirement she continued to volunteer there as a "Pink Lady" for many years. She was a member of the LDS Provo 7th Ward. Mary was also an active member of the local chapter of Daughters of the Nile.
Mom was a very loving and devoted mother and loved taking care of her home and family. She spent many hours working in her flowers and yard which was always so pretty and neat. She once won an award for best yard in the neighborhood.
In her many years as a widow she had a large group of friends and traveled with them to Europe and the Caribbean.
She was a very caring and giving person and was always helping out whenever she could for friends and family. In the little spare time she had she enjoyed sewing, needlework, reading, and golf.
Mary is survived by her son Morris (Sandra) Castleberry, of Provo, a half brother Roger Rowe, of Long Beach, CA, four grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Glen C. Castleberry, brother David Rowe and sister Lola Oram.
