Michael Scott Azbill

–

Provo, Utah

Michael Scott Azbill left his mortal body behind on July 27, 2024. He was 34 years of age. He was and remains the precious son of Keith Walter Azbill and Dolores Scott Azbill. He was born in the Saint Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City on March 29, 1990, and was the third child in a family of eight children.

He attended one year of high school at Laughlin High School in Laughlin, Nevada and his remaining high school years at Cedar High School in Cedar City, Utah where he graduated in 2008.
Michael began his college years at Utah Valley University. He enjoyed school but decided to take some time off to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the Tulsa, Oklahoma Mission which was then reorganized into the Bentonville, Arkansas Mission which took in parts of Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas. He was an honorable missionary and worked hard to teach the gospel. He also enjoyed serving those in need through his own physical labor: cleaning up yards, roofing houses, welding on projects etc.

After returning from his mission, Michael found work and returned to Utah Valley University for a few years. He also volunteered at the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, helping numerous individuals get the help they needed. He then transferred to the University of Utah, continuing his education in psychology and doing research for the university with self-driving cars. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology, along with a Human Factor’s certificate. He loved this field of science.

Michael was an idealist at heart and wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. Along with psychology, he enjoyed good art and music, throwing fire poi, friends and family and walks in nature on cloudy days.

After graduating with his degree, Michael got a job in medical research, helping in the attempt to find substitute pain relievers that could replace opiates in the health industry. Another job he took involved working with special needs adults. He enjoyed helping them get out into the community to experience the world.

Michael moved on in his career, working at the University of Utah Pediatric Cardiology Department as a research assistant in the Primary Children’s Hospital. He found great satisfaction being a part of such meaningful work, helping young children and youth deal with the psychological issues that came from having damaged or failing hearts.

Michael is survived by his parents Keith Walter Azbill and Dolores Scott Azbill; along with his brothers Daniel David Azbill and Bryan Azbill; sisters Tressie Elizabeth Bohorquez and Angela Jane Wiggins and half-siblings Jason Walter Azbill, Gregory Paul Azbill, and Beverly Dawn Azbill Acevez.

Funeral services for Michael will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2024, at the Sharon Park Stake Center, 85 East 700 North, Orem, Utah. A closed casket viewing will be held from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services. He will be interred in the Orem City Cemetery, 1250 North 800 East, Orem, Utah.
