Peggy Hurteau, a creative soul who found joy in the simplest of things, passed away on March 19, 2026. Born in Los Angeles, CA, on April 11, 1944, to Loren and Lucille Smith, Peggy’s adventurous spirit carried her from the golden coasts of California to the peaceful valleys of Orem, Utah, where she made her home in her later years. With a heart full of love and a mind brimming with creativity, her journey was a testament to a life well-lived, filled with experiences that shaped a remarkable woman.
Peggy was a loyal friend, a loving wife to her husband, George Hurteau, since January 5, 1963, and an adoring mother to her children, Michele Clark and George Hurteau. She was also a cherished grandmother to Alexxandria Clark, Jessica Hurteau, Savanna Clark, Elizabeth Hurteau, and Christopher Hurteau. Her love extended to her sister, Shirley Meyer, and all those who were fortunate enough to be part of her world. Peggy's love of family was radiant and unwavering, her home a sanctuary of warmth. She had retired from a long career in accounting, a field where her meticulous nature and sharp eye for detail always shone. Outside of work, Peggy poured her creativity into gardening, sewing, and crafting beautiful ceramic pieces. Her adventurous side led her to travel and camping, always seeking new experiences and picturesque landscapes.
In the words of Saint Paul, “Blessed are those who have died in the Lord; let them rest from their labors for their good deeds go with them” (Revelation 14:13).
