Shirline Dixon Mitchell, 58, returned to her Father in Heaven on Wednesday, January 6, 2016. Born March 3, 1957 in Pleasant Grove, Utah, Shirline is the fourth daughter born to Vern Lee Dixon and Margaret Annie Simpson Dixon. Shirline grew up in Lindon and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School.
On June 7, 1974 Shirline married the love of her life and Eternal partner, Jerry Leon Mitchell in the Provo Utah LDS Temple. Before Shirline and Jerry were blessed with their own kids they took in their niece Amie as their first daughter. Shirline and Jerry were blessed with three children of their own, Wendy (Dwight) Whitaker, Jami (Jason) Jones, and Jeramy (Salenah) Mitchell and 14 grandchildren. Shirline and Jerry also have “adopted” kids, Brian Larsen, Tobias (Jackie) Petersen, Ginger Ryan, and Stephanie (Matt) Evans. The adopted kids brought 9 more grandchildren to the clan. Shirline and Jerry loved all of their kids and grandkids.
Shirline was preceded in death by both of her parents and her father-in-law. Shirline is survived by her husband, all of her children, all of her grandchildren, her mother-in-law, her four best friends and her sisters, Thelma LeAnn Rowley, SuzAnn Dixon, Pauline Wilder, and Joyce Snow.
Shirline loved all things nature, especially camping with all of her family. She had many artistic talents including playing guitar and flute, sewing, cross stitch, and scrapbooking. Shirline looked forward to the time every year when she went on “sisters outing” with her four sisters, a vacation when just the sisters got away for a while.
Shirline’s greatest joy in life was her family. She had a very strong testimony of Eternity and Eternal Families. She led her family by example showing them the ways to return to their Father in Heaven and their Eternal Family.
