Thelma Vera De St. Jeor Carter Obituary (1924

Thelma De St. Jeor Carter passed away January 22, 2016. She was born April 13, 1924 in Provo, Utah, the second of three children of William (Bill) Aston and Hilda (Richins) Aston. She married Jesse De St. Jeor December 31, 1944 in Provo, Utah. For a short time they lived in Oakland, CA where she worked at a government accounting office while Jess completed his military duty. Following the end of WWII, they returned to Orem, Utah where Jess worked at Geneva Steel. They had a wonderful marriage and were blessed with three children. After Jesse’s death in 1977, Thelma was a widow for 18 years until she married Ray Carter on November 23, 1995. His loving care brought great joy to her life as they traveled many places together and enjoyed serving at the Orem Senior Center. She loved her family and often traveled to see them in California. She was an accomplished homemaker and seamstress. She loved painting, gardening, and world travel. She was a long time member and served faithfully in leadership roles in the Community of Christ Church. Thelma is survived by her husband Ray Carter, Larry Jess De St. Jeor (son) of Fresno, CA, Phyllis De St. Jeor Hughes (daughter) of Santa Clarita, CA, six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and her brother, Eldon Aston. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her brother, LaVerl Aston, and an infant daughter, Karen. Funeral services will be held at Provo Cemetery on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. A reception will be held immediately following the funeral at the Orem Senior Center, 93 N 400 E, Orem, UT. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.bergmortuary.com.
