Tuinanau Junior Tiatia Obituary (1981

It is with great sadness that the family of Tuinanau Junior Tiatia, announces his passing after a long fight with intense illness, at the young age of 36 years. Known to friends and family as “Tui”, he left this earth with an exhausted mind and body but a forever smile on his face, on May 19, 2018. Tui was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 23, 1981, the last of 9 children of Moli Siapoatoa and Nopele Matafeo Tiatia. Tui lived in Hawaii for 10 years before moving to California. He would eventually move to Washington, Arizona, and finally settling in Utah. In Utah he enjoyed playing on the Rocky Mountain Football League (RMFL) teams with his brothers and nephews. Tui would later become a coach at Canyon View and Orem Youth Football teams using his experience from the sport he loved. He married the love of his life, Chantale Marie Leatherberry, on February 19, 2010. Tui always brought joy and laughter to anyone he came in contact with and was the life of the party. Tui was especially known for his hilarious lip sync videos that he would make for family birthdays and graduations. He was very witty which was why people were drawn to him. He was an outstanding and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and coach. Tui was preceded in death by his parents Siapoatoa Moli Tiatia and Pepe Nopele Matafeo Tiatia (Samoa) and siblings, Luse Tiatia (Samoa), Petelo Tiatia (Samoa), and Alosio Tiatia (Australia). He is survived by his wife Chantale and children DJ (17), Stormi (7), and Tui (6); siblings, Siapoatoa Toni (Fialupe) Tiatia, Julia (Alosio) Moli Tiatia, Teleise (Ioe) Lemaveve, Paleni (Bill) Wilson, Fa’afoi (Vili) Matafeo Talaepa, Suitulaga (Toni) Tiatia, Simanua Faamoetauloa (Esperanza) Tiatia, Vaopele (Shauna) Tiatia, Sina Mateofeo; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His family would like to give a special thank you to the teams of Doctors, Nurses, and CNA’s at Intermountain Medical Center for the special care he has received over the many years of his health battle. Tui will be fiercely missed but forever remembered. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Suncrest 3rd Ward Chapel, 200 North 800 West, Orem, Utah. Friends may call from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Cremation to follow.
