Veda Shepherd Thurgood Obituary (1926

Heavenly Father called home one of His special sprits, Veda Shepherd Thurgood, 91, on May 31, 2018, ending the 22 years on earth without her sweetheart. She was born October 9, 1926, daughter of Thomas and Leona Shepherd. She was raised in Spanish Fork, Utah. She married Samuel Dean Thurgood on October 4, 1947. Veda was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was exceptional at magnifying her calling in Relief Society. She stood by her husband and supported him in his many Priesthood callings in the church. Veda raised two beautiful daughters, the late LaDean Clements and Sue Ann Gutzman. Her world revolves around her family. She loved spending time with her brothers and sisters, kids and grandkids, and especially her loving companion. Veda loved watching sports and was the biggest fan of BYU. She wouldn’t miss watching a game. She was active and hard working. She even worked on the farm with her husband Dean for many years. Veda will be remembered and cherished by all who knew and loved her! She is survived by her daughter Sue Ann (David) Gutzman of Draper, her brother Verl Shepherd, and six grandchildren: Jason (Mica) Clements of California, Nathan (Lindsey) Clements of Springville, Allison (Adam) Moffat of Salt Lake City, Paige Goldy, Brie Gutzman, Celeste (Mike) Cowley; and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Samuel Dean Thurgood, her daughter LaDean Clements, her parents, and her other brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 11, 2018 at the Lakeside 2nd Ward Chapel, 2530 West 200 South, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Sunday, June 10 from 6-8:00 p.m. and at the church Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
