Vera Teeples Freckleton departed peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 20th. She had just spent a wonderful weekend with all her children there for a thanksgiving dinner. She was born in the Snake River Valley of Idaho on March 19, 1918. Vera graduated from Ricks College. She met John Freckleton at summer school at BYU. After her mission in the North Central States mission they married in the Salt Lake City Temple on January 6, 1943. They settled in Provo and she later graduated with honors from BYU and began a career teaching Kindergarten at Scera Park Elementary School in Orem.
Vera gave birth to four children: Karla, Mark, Myrna and Launa. In all Vera had 20 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Vera's life was centered on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and service within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including many years working in the Provo Temple. Her interests were varied: creating ceramics pieces, playing the organ and practicing Tai Chi. The fact that she was as active and healthy as she was stands as testimony to her positive outlook on life and the level of activity she maintained.
She is survived by all her children: Karla (Bruce) Burkhart, Mark (Rebecca Freckleton), Myrna Jones and Launa (Steve) Nelson, together with her brother Glen Teeples and two sisters, Thelma Huffman and Carma Steineckert. All her children would like to express gratitude to her daughter-in-law, Rebecca, who supplied her with loving and excellent care over the last several months of Vera's life.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Grandview 5th Ward Chapel, 1555 North 1350 West, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the church from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in East Lawn Memorial Hills, Provo, Utah. Condolences may be sent through her obituary at www.bergmortuary.com.
