Von M. Hutchings Obituary (1937

Von M. Hutchings (our daddy), born August 6, 1937, took a tumble four weeks ago on his motorcycle. This tragedy gave us the precious opportunity to spend quality time with him. Due to complications, he left us very peacefully on September 23, 2023 surrounded by his family and friends. Our whole lives Dad taught us to love hard, live full, and be adventurous, and mostly that there is nothing more important than family. He was happier on 2 wheels or in the Razor than he was doing anything else. We are so very blessed that at 86 he could still live his life to the fullest and that he chose to spend his quality time with us. Dad was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Margaret Allen Hutchings, wife Lila Anita Ewell, and son Craig Hutchings. He is survived by 8 daughters: Debra (Kevin) Twitchell, Sheryl Sisler, Trina (Lynn) Barney, Connie Becker, Kristine Coffman, Rochelle Hutchings, Robin (Derek) Sass, Rolonda (Scott) LeFevre; stepson Bob Steele, stepdaughters: Gaylene (Rick) Crow, and Tammy Sauvageau; 50 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and sister, Karen (Alan) Kirkwood. Dad drove for Utah Valley Rides 3 days a week. He was very active in the LDS church. He volunteered time at the Temple once a week and completed a mission in the family history library. In his spare time, he indexed over 400,000 names for family history. Dad was very active with the Good Sams/Trailblazers Club and the 76ers Radio Club. He also rode his motorcycle and ATV as often as possible and enjoyed going on rides with local bike shops and family members. See you on the other side, Daddy. We love you. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Sunset 5th Ward Chapel, 1402 South 570 West, Provo, Utah. The family will receive friends at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Friday, October 6, from 6-8:00 p.m. and at the church Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
