Walter LaMoine Eggleston, husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa (big papa), uncle, and dear friend to all, passed away peacefully, due to heart failure on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 8:10 PM at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah with his family by his side.

He was born on April 12, 1933, in Cornish, Utah to Walter Moroni Eggleston and Lillian Lorraine Baxter Eggleston. He came into this world at 12 lbs., so he said he had a big start. He was the youngest and last surviving of 10 children. He was 6’6” tall and that is why all his great grandchildren called him Big Papa. He moved to Pocatello, Idaho with his parents when he was 3 years old. He lived in several houses and apartments, but his fondest memory was the first home they purchased on Wyeth. He met the love of his life at the Tally Ho Café in Pocatello, Idaho where he was a cook in his family’s restaurant. They were married on November 10, 1955, in Long Beach California, and were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on December 12, 1964. Janice and LaMoine made their home in Southern California from 1955 -1995 when they moved to Provo, Utah.

LaMoine graduated from Pocatello High School in 1951 where he played the clarinet in the marching, concert and pep bands. He attended Idaho State University from 1951-1955 and graduated with his bachelor’s degree in accounting. His favorite classes were any type of math or bookkeeping. He started working for Dean Van Lines, which later became Pan American Van Lines, in Southern California after graduating from college. He retired from Pan American in 1995, moved to Provo and then worked at Banta with his son Mike from 1997-2009. He had a love of learning and continued his education at Provo College in 2011, at the age of 78, where he earned many technical certificates.

He loved to cook, golf, bowl, walk around the neighborhood or at the Rec Center and go on cruises. He was able to take his last cruise in January of this year. He loved Friday movie nights and Sunday dinners with family. His greatest joy in life was being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. They always put a smile on his face.

He is survived by his children Sheri Cluff of Draper, Karen (Drew) Wright of Provo, Michael (IlaMay) of Spanish Fork, and Cathy (Jeff) Sanders of Spanish Fork. He has 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sweetheart Janice Arlene Curzon Eggleston, his parents Walter Moroni Eggleston and Lillian Lorraine Baxter Eggleston and great grandson Christopher Jay Huyck.

LaMoine was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various callings as Ward Clerk, Ward and Stake Sunday School President, Counselor in the Bishopric with his nephew Richard, and Assistant Stake Clerk where he served many years.
